Today, June 12, 2017 marks the third death anniversary of Kefee Obareki Don Momoh who died of lung failure at a hospital in Los Angeles, California after spending 15 days in coma.
Since her demise, the Nigerian gospel music industry is yet to welcome a performer with her level of talent and fame.
Kefee left the world exactly three years ago, after releasing many hit songs, big collaborations, tours and several millions of video views.
Since then, Sammie Okposo and Nikki Laoye have been the most active gospel singers in recent years, but their buzz is yet to match that of the late Delta born singer.
In the past weeks however, Nathaniel Bassey‘s taken the top spot in the hearts of Nigerians thanks to The Hallelujah Challenge.
The daily, one-hour praise and worship session achieved a record of over 50,000 viewers tuning in on the 12th day of the one-month programme.
Meanwhile Tope Alabi is also gaining prominence in recent times on Instagram and Facebook for her song ‘Aye Le’ – usually used for funny videos.
Regardless of all that, Kefee’s songs, including ‘Branama’, ‘Thank U’ and ‘Kokoroko’ featuring Timaya are still fresh in our minds whenever we remember the late singer.
And she’s still regarded as one of the most talented and famous Nigerian musicians ever.
