He’s one of the most decorated Nigerian entertainers of his generation. Yet, the Nigerian singer-songwriter says he’s not really keen about winning laurels.
Wizkid made his views known in a Youtube interview with supermodel Naomi Campbell, with whom he’s friends.
“I am not a big fan of awards, I have been very vocal about it. It doesn’t define who you are, it doesn’t define your substance. It doesn’t define how amazing you are at the end of the day.”
“Nominate me or not, I couldn’t care less. As long as my music is touching the people the right way I’m very content with that.”
Wizkid told Naomi Campbell that he had always known that he would do music right from his performance at age eleven. “The first time I got the mic and I got on stage like I couldn’t think of anything else like nothing.”
According to the Starboy, music changed his life and his family. “If I wasn’t a musician I’ll probably be on the street because my parents are not wealthy. I changed the life of my family. I was blessed and God used me as a blessing for my family”, he said.
The father-of-three also talked about his life, career and new album “Made In Lagos“, as he and Naomi reminisced about their first meeting and how their friendship has blossomed over the years.
