Whitney Houston‘s grieving mother has broken her silence about her daughter’s death in a taped TV chat with a New Jersey news crew.
The interview is Cissy Houston‘s first since Whitney’s February 11 death.
Conducted at the Newark church where Houston’s funeral was held, the 78-year-old gospel singer admits she has a long way to go before she can get on with her life after losing her daughter, explaining, ‘I have my moments. I’m not there yet… If I could bring her back I would, but that’s not possible‘.
‘My children are my whole life. She was very special to me… She was my only daughter, and a good one. (She) looked out for her family‘
And Whitney’s mom is happy that her daughter’s demise and her past battles with drugs have nothing to do with her: ‘I know I did the best I could‘
And, despite the drug and alcohol speculation surrounding Houston’s final days and weeks, Cissy refuses to let the negatives kill the pride she has for her late daughter.
She adds, ‘I am very proud of my daughter. She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here… She was a very wonderful person‘.
