A family of four was allegedly wiped out on the morning of Tuesday, November 6, 2012 by unknown gunmen at Chaha Village in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to eye witness report, the dare devil men visited the sleeping family of Iliya Yakubu (48) at about 1:30am, killing him, his wife Lyop, (38), their son Nuhu and Peace, and their one-year-old daughter while they were asleep.
The Sun reports three other persons sustained gunshot injuries when they tried to escape from the house. One of the three, Alice Iliya, who gave an account to reporters from the Vom Christian Hospital Vom, said that the assailants had called out the name of her brother before the invasion into the compound.
She also revealed that they were shot through the window while trying to escape into a nearby bush.
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Abuh Emmanuel said that the assassins had fled the before police men arrived at the scene but said that full investigation was on to bring them to book.
