The University of Lagos will on Thursday, May 24, 2012, play host to the Indian rock band, Parikrama.
This is as part of the INDIAFRICA: A Shared Future initiative, which was launched in 2011 to promote engagement between youths of both countries, encourage a cross fertilization of ideas between them and, ultimately, enhance a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities of doing businesses together.
According to the Special Secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Ambassador Pinak Chakravarty, ‘We are entering a new phase in our ties with Africa. From a shared history against colonial oppression and economic exploitation to achieve freedom…This new relationship is based on economic partnership in a globalized, deeply interconnected world.‘
Other activities that will mark the event include contests on essay writing, photography and poster design, for which the short-listed participants will win a $10,000 financial grant.
