Being a Nigerian musician isn’t the easiest of journeys, which is why the MTN Foundation offers scholarships for young Nigerian musicians to study for a two-year diploma course at the MUSON School of Music.

Even though music can be a tough mistress, some people have chosen to follow their passion regardless of the cost. Prince Toluwani is definitely one of those people.
Prince Toluwani Obadimimu, aka Saxyprince, is a 25-year-old musician. He started his journey with music in the year 2016 and learned to play the saxophone in the mind-boggling space of six months
Prince applied for the MTN Foundation scholarship in 2016 but was denied the opportunity. Two years later, he applied again, and this time, he was lucky enough to be one of the beneficiaries of the scholarship.
Today, he, and his 29 classmates who are all recipients of the MTN Foundation’s scholarship are a part of the MUSON School of Music’s graduating class of 2020.
Besides exploring his passion for music, Prince is also an entrepreneur who aspires to be one of the world’s greatest music educators. His story is proof that persistence pays off and we definitely look forward to seeing what he will be doing with the knowledge he has gained.
