According to reports, Akilapa was detained at the Alade Divisional Police headquarters in Somolu, Lagos. The police prosecutor, Inspector Anyanwu, informed the court that Akilapa was arrested by a mob that accused her of stealing of the bunch of keys.
In her defence, Akilapa claimed the bunch of her keys were props she used in her movie, Bunmi Akata. She said she had gone to visit a certain Mama Ayoola, whose absence she met before she was attacked by the mob.
She reportedly pleaded not guilty and has been granted bail by the magistrate, Justice Adekomaya. The case has been adjourned till Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Meanwhile, all efforts to get a word from the ANTP proved abortive as two of its key members, Dele Odule and Jide Kosoko did not pick our calls or respond to text messages.
