It was a day of overwhelming sorrow on Thursday, 29th of June when a tanker carrying petroleum, claiming many lives and razing no fewer than fifty vehicles.
It was gathered that charred bodies of the victims of the explosion wriggled in pain as they struggled to exit the accident scene.
One of the survivors of the tragic inferno told said that no one never envisaged that the truck would experience any brake failure not to talk of the mighty explosion.
In his words, ‘While I was driving, I noticed that immediately the tanker experienced brake failure. It then fell and started spilling its content. The content started spilling towards my vehicle with fire accompanying it. So I quickly ran out of the vehicle and crossed to the other side to avoid being caught in the inferno. I told the man behind me to leave his car and run, but he wanted to try to reverse his car, but there was no much time as the tanker exploded.’

Another survivor of the horrifying incident said. I have never run like I did today. ‘I am happy I didn’t die while trying to escape from the scene. I tried manoeuvring my vehicle to avoid being burnt but my efforts proved abortive’.
