It was the first weekend of December in Lagos and the Ahmadu Bello Way and the surrounding streets in Victoria Island were alive with the sounds of people partying, eating and dancing.
The Lagos Street Party was actually holding at the nearby and iconic Eko Atlantic and it saw a very large turnout of guests and partygoers for the outdoor event.
It was a family event for many of the guests too, with many parents seen with their children in tow or with little babies in strollers.

There were a a lot of side attractions on show for the whole family to enjoy like face-painting, arts and crafts, games, gaily dressed clowns, performers on hover boards and unicycles, a bouncing castle and even men on stilts. Plus lots of food on offer.
Guinness World Record winning dancer Kaffy was also on hand to teach a dance class to the teeming crowd.
The main attractions were of course the music from the beautifully decorated stage.
On the wheels of steel was Chocolate City’s DJ Lambo. The musicians who delighted the crowd included Humblesmith, fuji musician, Atawewe, veteran hiphop artiste, Jazzman Olofin.
The headliners of the street party were two artistes who undeniably owe their popularity to the streets themselves; YBNL boss Olamide and Alapomeji Records’ 9ice.
Olamide was his usual electrifying self as he got the entire audience dancing as he performed many of his hit songs to the appreciative crowd.
When 9ice got on the stage however, even the governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode could not resist it as got on the stage to show the citizens of his state how to really dance.
In only its first edition, the Lagos Street Party has shown thousands of Lagosians that it is possible to have fun with friends and family outdoor in with great music to boot. The next edition is only a year away.
