Every year, the MTN Foundation sponsors 30 young Nigerian musicians to study music at the prestigious Music Society of Nigeria (MUSON) School of Music. In the past 13 years, 330 students have been awarded this scholarship.
The 2020 graduating set recently capped their graduation ceremonies with a soul-stirring live concert live from Shell Hall, Lagos.
Obianom Emmanuel was a part of the class of 30 people who won the MTN Foundation scholarship in 2020 and are gaining a diploma after two years of hard work, practicing, and study at the MUSON School of Music.
Obianom is a 21-year-old singer from Anambra State. He received his first vocal lesson at his church choir in 2014 and proceeded to take a grade five MUSON singing exam, which he passed with a merit.
The baritone singer gained admission to the MUSON School of Music through the scholarship given by MTN Foundation, where he has been studying vocal performance under the teaching of Sir Emeka Nwokedi.
Obianom Emmanuel is also the 2019 winner of Music Quest (voice category), a music competition organised by the Musical Society of Nigeria.
One day, Obianom hopes to perform on stage with the Nigerian singer, Johnny Drille.
