Rumours have been flying round, about this year’s Star Megajam which held in Lagos and Abuja last weekend. Sources say there was a stampede at the Abuja concert, leading to multiple injuries. But, while there are reports that some fans died as a result of the stampede, the organisers, through the statement below (made available to us just minutes ago), insist nothing of such happened.
_______
The attention of Nigerian Breweries Plc has been drawn to a misleading news report carried by some News Media alleging that some people died at the star mega jam concert which ended in Abuja early Sunday morning.
Nigerian Breweries wishes to state categorically that the story is completely false and without any substance. NOBODY DIED at the concert as alleged. There were reported cases of minor injury sustained by 13 people as a result of the rush that occurred when a huge crowd of people tried to gain entry into the venue.
Those injured were promptly taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further treatment by the Critical Rescue International team which had 3 Ambulances on ground. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the injured have been treated and discharged.
The concert, like the Lagos leg attracted a huge crowd which is normal for a concert featuring an A-list artiste like R Kelly. We thank those who have called in to confirm this report and urge the general public to discountenance this false reports .The concert as confirmed by many was a huge success.
Nigerian Breweries Plc wishes to use this opportunity to thank all who attended the concerts both in Lagos and Abuja for their support and patronage over the years.

the concert maybe was a success to NB cos they made their money. but there were lots of organisation lapses. they wasted too much time in btw performances, it started 4 and half hours late i.e 11.30 instead of d advertised 7pm. the fans were left standing throughout that period. by the time R.Kelly came on stage, lots of people were too tired to shout and sing along. some had even left. a talking about the abuja concert. i dont know how the lagos’ was. a dog was used to scare fans at the entrance which led to a minor stampede too. besides the performances by the stars, it was a waste of time and energy, as people who waited till the end that arrived as early as 9pm stood for atleast 9hrs. lots of ladies fainted in the extremely rowdy crowd that included ‘ganja’ smokers and thieves.
