Late Mrs Mary Onojighodame Okri, nee Eruvwekaghwe died on May 1, 2016 at the age of 89 in Delta State.
Mourning the demise of his mum, Mike Okri took to Facebook to write, ‘Dear mother, the news of your passing this morning in Affiesere, Ughelli, came to me as a rude shock. Just February here I saw you, though old and frail, yet no doubt in my mind that it’ll be the last of you’.
‘I prayed in my heart that come September 2016 we all your children will gather to celebrate your 90 years. I’m yet to get over the fact that it wasn’t meant to be’.
‘Mama, at 89 years, we believe you have tried and we celebrate you, no matter what. Though, we will miss you so much, yet we believe the almighty God who chose today for your going home, loves you more and knows best’.
