At a virtual media conference held today, February 18, 2021, to brief the press on the launch date for Nigerian Idol season 6 and what to expect from this season, MultiChoice Nigeria promised to shine a light on unique and real talents through the Nigerian Idol platform.
While discussing the company’s plans to give Nigerians premium and entertaining content throughout the season, Channel Director, Africa Magic Channels, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, stated that the Nigerian Idol show would unearth the best of talents. She went on to say that the diversity of this season’s judges serves as a pointer to the quality of the contestants viewers will be seeing on the show this year.
In response to a journalist’s question about why they don’t have a past contestant as one of the judges this year, Wangi said, “the goal for this year is uniqueness, which is why each of the judges stands out in their different ways. Past contestants will be allowed to come as guest judges on the show, but the aim remains to bring real and unique contestants to our screens this year.”
Wangi also revealed that the turn-out for the virtual auditions for this season was great with over 3,600 entries received. The most memorable and entertaining auditions will air on DStv 198 and GOtv 29 starting March 14 from 6 PM until midnight.
The main show will run every Sunday from March 28th till July, and just like BBNaija, fans will get the chance to vote for their favourites every week.
