World leaders continue to mourn the demise of the late King of Saudi Arabi, King Abdullah who died at the age of 90, on January 23, 2015.
In a statement issued by the White house in Washington, President Barack Obama paid tribute to Abdullah, who has been an ally of Washington in its fight against terror saying.
‘As a leader, he was always candid and had the courage of his convictions. One of those convictions was his steadfast and passionate belief in the importance of the U.S.-Saudi relationship as a force for stability and security in the Middle East and beyond. The closeness and strength of the partnership between our two countries is part of King Abdullah’s legacy. I always valued King Abdullah’s perspective and appreciated our genuine and warm friendship,’ the statement reads.
The United States of America and Saudi Arabia have been allies since 1933 and have enjoyed a great relationship particularly in the area of the exchange of crude oil between both countries.
