Ask any contestant on the Gulder Ultimate Search what the drive was and they would tell you it’s the money. For Odudu, however, it seemed he wanted it more.
The all-round athlete, as he likes to describe himself, beat 17 other contestants to be the ultimate craftsman in season 12 of the show. Not many knew him until, towards the latter part of the show, something he told Netng was a strategy.
“At the beginning, I told myself I must not come last. That was the strategy I adopted until the last stage when I told myself I would not come second and it worked for me.”
During the group tasks, Odudu seemed to be doing enough not to get evicted and nothing more while other contestants gave in their best. He told Netng this allowed him to conserve his energy for the latter part of the show.
“It was all in my head. I was highly motivated by the prize money. I told myself I could do it and the money was the ultimate motivation. That was why I was able to win the tasks that involved money within the show and also won the overall prize.”
Odudu is one of the youngest winners of the show but his age did not make him doubt himself. His focus on winning remained strong.
Apart from winning the show, Odudu has also become a different man. Although he does not want to go back to the jungle as the experience there was very challenging, he believes he has taken enough from it to shape his life. Having to share a space with different people has taught him patience and tolerance and he is grateful for the opportunity.
He plans to go back to school and play basketball professionally outside Nigeria. He is also not ruling out sn opportunity in the entertainment industry.
“Gulder Ultimate Search has put me out there and has given me a platform for me to use to get to the top.”
