James’ rep confirmed the news to Associated Press on Sunday evening, January 1, 2012.
The Miami Heat star surprised Brinson who he first met in high school by dropping on one knee and proposing to her at a party to celebrate both New Year’s Eve and his 27th birthday on Friday, December 30, 2011.
‘It was beautiful. I told him, ‘Good luck.’ It was nice. It was real nice’, James’ teammate Chris Bosh said.
No wedding date has been announced.
James signed with Miami Heat in 2010 and in 2011 led them to the NBA Finals but lost to the Dallas Mavericks. James has never won the championship ring.
