When Juliet Ibrahim made her first appearance on the screen in 2005, she got everyone mesmerized. Not just for her beauty and elegance which are undoubtedly visible, but also for her acting talent and charisma.
The Ghanaian actress and film producer who is of mixed heritage has since gone on to become a celebrated movie icon across the continent and beyond.
Born in 1986 to a Lebanese father and a Liberian-Ghanaian mother, she chose acting as a career after a stint with modeling. With an impressive outing in her acting debut in Crime to Christ which earned her the award for Best Actress (Ghana) at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, she set her sight on Nollywood where she quickly became a household name.
In a career that now spans over a decade and a half, she continues to remain relevant in the movie industry and is by far one of the most formidable A-list actresses in Africa. Having starred in over 50 movies and produced at least three, with the first one, Number One Fan released in 2014, she is blazing the trail for a lot of young women who are following in her footsteps.
While introducing her book, ‘A Toast to Life’ Ibrahim revealed that she was ‘a child with body esteem issues, a teenager dealing with abuse in silence, a young woman making mistakes in love (and an) adult celebrating life’. Her success regardless of all these setbacks is proof of her resilience, and strength of character.
Beyond acting, she is also an entrepreneur with businesses comprising a beauty salon, a boutique, and a modeling agency. She has also engaged in many charitable causes which include raising funds for a 15-year-old boy who needed to undergo a kidney transplant.
She has won numerous awards and recognition for her works. In 2010, she was awarded the Achievement Award by the City People Magazine, Accra for her outstanding contribution to the movie industry. Later in the same year, she won the Ghana Movie Personality of the Year Award by City People Magazine in Lagos.
With numerous other awards under her belt, Juliet Ibrahim won the NET Honours Class of 2020 award for the Most Popular African Celebrity for the second time in a row. She went up against Angelique Kidjo, Sarkodie, Nasty C and Diamond Platnumz to take home the prize.
