The 5feet 8 inches international player started his football career on the streets, before joining Enugu Rangers in 1990 at the age of 17.
A maverick on the pitch, Okocha is well known for his tricks and skilful football techniques; which made him one of the best footballers in Nigeria from 1995-2005. He has also been ranked among the 100 best in the world by world football body FIFA.
The 1996 Olympic medallist and former Super Eagles captain has since retired, concentrating on his night club (Club 10, in Victoria Island, Lagos), and other businesses
Okocha is happily married to Nkechi and they have two children Daniella and A-Jay. He was born in Enugu to parents who are originally from Delta State .
Okocha was named-checked in M.I.A’s single ’Paper Planes remix’ featuring Rye Rye and Afrikan Boy with the lyrics ‘I’m a legend, just like Jay Jay Okocha’.
