Although the Nigerian Afro&B singer, Darey, went off the music scene for a while, he is back like he never left with his new songs titled “Jah Guide Me”’ and “Jojo” featuring Patoranking, in a planned album rollout.
The songs signaled a fresh approach to music for the prolific singer, with a messaging tone, and feeling that has no doubt, resonated and appealed to Nigerian and international audiences. We can definitively feel the vibes from this return!
Regardless of his other ventures, Darey’s key focus remains music. His passion for music is relentless and cannot be compared to any other thing he does. With his new release, he tells us how he has missed shooting music videos and why he’s really excited to be back, after a brief hiatus from the music scene.
Even though he was off music for a few years, he never took his eyes off what he considers to be his dream. In his words, “You [always] get reminded that this [music] is always something you were born to do. You can’t run away from it…Over the last few years, I’ve been able to record more music, create more songs, and it might just be some of the best body of work I’ve done so far.”
Through his music, Darey revealed he has always sought to portray Nigeria and Africa in a positive light, by telling affective stories that often induce a lot of reflection and inspiration. This is evident in many of his classic hits over the years and is a reflection of the man himself.
