Femi Kuti is planing to drop his 10th album soon. This is coming as he prepares to headline the Live in Abuja concert holding on November 18, 2016.
The four-time Grammy award nominee exclusively told Thenetng that, ‘My next album will be ready soon, I heard it a few days ago and it’s sounding very powerful, I am impressed with it.‘
Asked if he’ll finally consider Nigerian collaborations on the project, Femi said, ‘Because it’s going to be my 10th album and I’ve gotten to a stage where as much as I will not mind collaborations, I don’t want the aftermath of my life to be based on the collaborations of my work, so what I’ve tried to do all my career is put my album out and let people do remixes and collaborations can come afterwards.’

He continued, ‘What we are planning with this album is to make it a double project. The album will be intact as i recorded it and then we’ll get musicians that I love or that love my music do different collaborations of tracks they love off the album.‘

Before now, his previous albums include, Femi Kuti (1995, Tabu/Motown), Shoki Shoki (1998, Barclay/Polygram/Fontana MCA), Fight to Win (2001, Barclay/Polygram/Fontana MCA/Wraase), Day by Day (2008, Wrasse Records), Africa for Africa (2010 /2011, Wrasse Records / Knitting Factory Records), No Place for My Dream (2013, Knitting Factory Records) and other live compilation projects.
Femi Kuti added that, ‘I already did songs with Common, Mos Def and that was a big album which got me my first Grammy nomination and even though Chocolate City wants me to focus more internally, the outside world also wants me to participate more, so the collaborations will be 50/50 because I still don’t want to cage myself into been to internal forgetting that I’m now really global.’
