As little as she is, Kylie Rowand faces a gripping battle from day-to-day as she tries to stay alive against a debilitating cancer ailment.
The toddler, at just 19 months old, was diagnosed with Stage 4 high-risk Neuroblastoma cancer on December 30, 2013. Ferried to the hospital for a scan on what was expected to be a minor issue on December 26, 2013 due to a swollen eye, a mass was found behind Kylie’s eye at the first scan, leaving doctors to hope it was nothing more than an infection.
After several other scans, according to the medical report, the infant was said to have 3 tumours in her head and face, some on her liver, one by her spleen, and others on her pelvic bone, spine, femur of one leg and calf bone on the other leg. All combining to paint an overwhelming level of pain on an enormous scale for the little girl.
Since then, she has struggled on in the fight having experienced different but surely massive changes in her body. Yesterday, February 5, 2015, a candle light prayer circle was held in honour at E! Captain High School in Lakeside, California as family, friends and associates of her parents came together to offer words of prayer for little Kylie.
According to her mum, Bree, who remains hopeful despite the sheer force of the adversity confronting her dear little daughter, ‘she not only has disease in her liver but also in her lungs, her legs, lymph nodes and bone marrow. Her body is having a hard time making platelets because of all the disease in her marrow where they are made so she is needing transfusion a lot.’
As Kylie and her parents continue the fight against the scourge that has taken over her body, our thoughts and prayers are surely with them.
