President Goodluck Jonathan and a former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair were some of the guests that graced the opening ceremony of the grand Cathedral Metropolitan Church of Christ in Lekki, Lagos on Saturday April 20, 2013.
As part of the 2-day unveiling ceremony of the 9,000 seater cathedral, the dignitaries were hosted to a grand reception with President Jonathan chairing the event.
According to the founding pastor of the church, House on The Rock, Paul Adefarasin, the church built in eight years, is now valued at about $85million (N13.4 billion),
In his speech, Jonathan urged Nigerians to demonstrate unfailing love for the country notwithstanding the current challenges confronting the nation. ‘I thank all Nigerians for what they are doing for the country. Because of intercessory prayers, the country is stabilised’, he said.
Other dignitaries that were present at the unveiling include, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Mike Okonkwo, and US gospel singer,Don Moen who is expected to perform on the second day of the ceremony.
