Gloria Ibru, daughter of billionaire businessman, Olorogun Michael Ibru is set to drop her very first compilation of a musical work in form of a debut album.
Gloria, who has over the years been known as the leader of the popular live band, ‘G Notes Band’ would officially drop her debut album in the first quarter of 2015.
When asked why it has taken her this long to decide to release an album, she said: ‘I never thought of being a recording artiste. I always wanted to be a performing artiste; I just wanted to put a smile on People faces. I have been asked so many times to release an album.
‘But I felt am not ready for it until recently about 2 or 3 years ago. I sat down and I thought about it. I didn’t want to do an album that won’t be Top notch and be of international standard because I want to be remembered. I want to make the kind of album that would still be relevant 30years from now, that was the reason why it has taken this long.’
Describing her kind of music, Gloria Ibru said ‘My music lies with highlife, jazz and calypso. I also do a mixture of the three genres. My album will be a fusion of highlife and jazz, highlife, calypso and Gospel.’
The album will drop in the first quarter of 2015, and according to her, she’s been working on the yet-to-be-titled album for over 15 months. The release of the album would be preceded by the release of a video for her first single, ‘Sugar mama’.
