The 14th Headies outdid itself for its first virtual award. Since the inception of the Headies award in 2006, it has been a completely physical event but this year, due to the COVID restrictions, it went virtual.
Beyond watching our favourite artistes receive accolades for their hard work, we love the amazing performances at the Headies. This year was no different. The show had amazing renditions from Fireboy, Oxlade, Omah Lay, Stonebwoy, DJ Neptune, Master KG and more at the 14th Headies performances.
For the first time, we got to see Omah Lay perform on a major stage in Nigeria, and it was indeed a sight to behold. As he performed his hit song ‘Bad Influence’, if there was a physical crowd, we’re sure the shouts would have been deafening. We will be content with thoughts that he felt the adoration virtually.

We can’t forget Master KG with his exciting, fireworks-filled performance all the way from South Africa either. One word – amazing! The Cavemen set the show on fire with their performance of ‘Anita’. They had us wishing covid was gone and we could attend concerts again. But for now, we’ll take them at the Headies.

DJ Neptune, Joeboy and Laycon also gave us a performance to remember, as they performed Nobody (Icons Remix) to the thrill of the online audience. The nominees for the Rookie of the Year award – Bad Boy Timz, Zinoleesky, Olakira, Alpha P and Jamopyper, gave us a wonderful medley of their hit singles that we won’t be forgetting any time soon.
