American singer and actor Tyrese Gibson opened up about his beef with actor and fellow Fast and Furious cast member Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in a recent interview on Van Lathan’s “The Red Pill podcast”, and how he regretted trolling his co-star publicly.
Tyrese started the one-sided beef in late 2017 when he took to his Instagram page suggesting, Dwayne was to blame for the delay to complete the ninth instalment of the franchise in a post saying :
“Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in-law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU – And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post – Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah….. it’s about #TeamDewayne #3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #BayWatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic”
Tyrese went on to say he intends to speak to Johnson at some point, and also admitted the action star never fired any noticeable shots.
“I have yet to talk to The Rock to this day, and we will have a conversation,” he told Lathan. “[…] I found myself being the messenger on behalf of various people associated to the franchise, but stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings, which is my own fault. You know, it’s not professional, it’s not cool.”
Johnson while addressing Tyrese’s previous comments, insisted there were no hard feelings toward his Fast and Furious Colleague.
“That whole thing with Tyrese, it was pretty disappointing because I’d been friends with Tyrese for a very long time,” he said. “I always feel like a beef requires two people to actually jump in it. It was really one-sided, and he had voiced his opinion a lot on social media and apparently, he was going through some stuff too in his personal life, but no, we haven’t talked and I don’t see where we would.” Dwyane concluded.
