Chike, Ayra Starr, Patoranking and Cobhams Asuquo, four of Nigeria’s top artistes, have been scheduled to perform at the grand finale of Nigerian Idol Season 6, Africa’s biggest music talent show.
After 12 weeks of electrifying live performances and nonstop excitement, the season’s grand finale will take place on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 7pm. Francis Atela and Kingdom Kroseide are the only two contestants remaining, and both have impressed during the course of the season, but only one of them can be crowned king. The online polls have closed, and by the end of the night, the viewing public will find out who goes home with the grand prize, which adds up to N50 million naira worth of prizes.
Sunday’s live show will feature performances from some of Nigeria’s finest artistes, including Chike, Ayra Starr, Patoranking and Cobhams Asuquo. These stars have lit up the charts with smash hit after smash lit, and they will be expected to set the stage on fire as Nigerian Idol Season 6 wraps up in style.
Chike, who emerged first runner-up in the first season of The Voice Nigeria, released his critically-acclaimed debut album Boo Of The Booless in 2020, and his hit singles like “If You No Love”, “Nakupenda” and “Roju” have become anthems at Nigerian weddings.
Ayra Starr, who was signed by Mavin Records in January 2021, released a single called “Away” which has one of the most infectious hooks in recent memory. Her debut EP, Ayra Starr, has gathered momentum over the past few months, and includes tracks like “DITR” and “Sare.”
Since releasing “Alubarika” in 2013, Patoranking has churned out multiple chart-topping hits, including “Girlie O”, “My Woman, My Everything”, “Suh Different” and “Abule.” He currently sits as a judge on The Voice Nigeria
Cobhams Asuquo is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s finest producers; he produced Asa’s globally-acclaimed debut album Asa, and has worked with artistes like Banky W, Omawummi, Dare Art Alade, Waje and Timi Dakolo, among others. He has also released a few singles of his own, including “Ordinary People”, “Star Of Wonder”, “Boosit” (featuring Falz) and “One Hit.”
The winner of Nigerian Idol Season 6 will walk away with a recording deal of a six-track EP, with music video shoots for three of the songs, and over 50 million Naira worth of prizes which include a ₦30 million cash prize and a brand new SUV.
