The organisers of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija announced on July 13, 2020, that the BBNaija season 5 Winner will go home with N85 million worth of prizes. For the first time in the history of the show, the winner also gets a real-estate gift in the form of a 2-bedroom apartment.
This is a significant improvement from last season where the winner, Mercy Eke, walked away with a 30 million naira cash prize, a brand new Innoson Motors SUV, A trip to Dubai, a complete home makeover and other prizes.
However, the winner of this season’s Big Brother Naija will receive a N30m cash prize; a two-bedroom apartment from Revolution Plus; an Innoson Motors SUV; a trip to Dublin, Dubai and to watch the UEFA Champions League finale. S/he will also win other prizes including home appliances, a year’s supply of Indomie noodles, Munch it, Colgate toothpaste, and Pepsi; a branded chiller and a brand new Oppo mobile smartphone. All these prizes combined will make up the N85 million grand prize.
Talking about the importance of the new season, the Chief Executive Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, said: ‘The fifth season of BBNaija marks a major milestone in the reality TV series. We are making this season significant by not only increasing the winnings but by also implementing other creative and innovative ways to ensure the show provides the premium entertainment it’s renowned for, especially during these COVID-19 times.’
In a few days, MultiChoice will reveal how viewers and fans can also win prizes from watching the show. The new season of Big Brother Naija will begin on July 19, 2020.
