In the match played on Monday, January 20, 2015 at the Estadio De Mongomo, the Bafana Bafana ended the match with a 3 – 1 defeat in the hands of Algeria with all the goals coming in the second 45 minutes of the game.
South Africa opened scoring with a strike from Thuso Phala in the 51st minute followed by an own goal from Thulani Hlatshwayo in the 67 minute before Algeria took the advantage to strike back with two more goals from Faouzi Ghoulam and Islam Slimani in the 72nd and 83rd minute respectively.
