The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared that money problems may scuttle the chances of the Super Eagles at this year’s AFCON in South Africa.
According to reports, the sum of N220m has been approved by the Federal Government for the NFF to prosecute the 2013 AFCON programme. Another N790m annual allocation has also been approved, an NFF chief who pleaded anonymity told supersport.com.
The NFF official said the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) failure to release the money to the federation has ‘caused untold hardship and embarrassment to the football house and the Super Eagles’, says the source who’s believed to be on the federation’s executive committee
NFF complains that NSC has no role to play at the Nations Cup and they have allegedly refused to release the funds received which is an allocation for NFF and Super Eagles at the AFCON 2013.
However, the NSC says the funds will soon hit the NFF account.
