Singer, Adekunle Gold, called for all men to do better. In a post made on Instagram, he mourned the senseless deaths of Uwa and Tina whose lives were cut short last week; Uwa was raped and killed in a church while studying, and Tina was shot by a trigger happy police officer.
Joining his voice to the cry of many Nigerians, he urged all men to take responsibility for themselves in how women are being treated. “All men are responsible. Your brother’s heart is desperately wicked and you have enabled it, whether in catcalling or in objectification. We have enabled it”
He also condemns the abuse of power by those who are supposed to be the protectors of people. ”We’ve enabled power-drunk senseless men with uniforms and weapons.” He ended with a comment that shows that we all should be a part of the change that needs to come. “I pray we raise better sons and enable better men”
He joins many other celebrities like Don Jazzy, Djinee, Uche Jumbo and Genevieve who have openly grieved for the young girls and urged that justice be served.
