Award winning movie director, Jeta Amata has collaborated with veteran US film producer, Suzanne DeLaurentiis to develop and produce a feature film called Black Gold: Struggle for the Niger Delta.
The movie will centre on the many problems emanating from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria; greed, murder, corruption, the tussle of oil resources and the large revenue it generates. It will also shed light on how indigenes and communities struggle for their voices to be heard as they fight for their rights to a better livelihood.
Having studied the storyline of a tussled region; and after meeting with Jeta Amata, Suzanne became fascinated and decided to be involved in the project, taking up the role as a consultant and one of the producers.
With an impressive cast line-up; Mbong Amata, Tom Sizemore, Vivica Fox, Billy Zane, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Sarah Wayne Callies, Razaaq Adoti, Dede Mabiaku, Eric Roberts, Larry Manetti and Michael Madsen, Black Gold captures the genesis and in-depth reality of the Niger-Delta region with a mind blowing characterization and interpretation.
The movie will be premiered at the Silverbird Galleria on the Thursday, February 24 2011.
