Yesterday, American pop star, Chris Brown and Wizkid performed in Kenya as headliners at the Mombasa Rocks concert.
On his arrival, Chris Brown was greeted with controversy when fans alleged that he smashed a fan’s mobile phone at the airport for attempting to take a selfie with him.
#DeportChrisBrown: Did Chris Brown really smash a phone at the airport in Kenya?
The rumours died down and the show went on as planned, but fans are not quite happy with the fact that Chris Brown was paid a whooping sum of 90 million Kenyan Shillings for his 90-minute performance in Mombasa.
Chris Brown arrived Kenya aboard a private jet with a 21-man crew.
It’s not clear how much his Nigerian counterpart, Wizkid was paid but according to a contract obtained by Kenya’s NTV, Chris Brown earned one million Kenyan Shilling for his 90-minute performance.
Further investigations revealed that the concert organisers didn’t make money from the event.
An estimated 15,000 people were expected but only a little more than 3,000 showed up and pundits blamed it on the high cost of the show tickets which sold at 10,000 (about $100) for regular tickets and 20,000 (about $200) for VIP tickets.

Thanks @HassanAliJoho for bringing @ChrisBrown to Kenya, but these tickets are expensive. @MombasaRocks I don’t think he’ll even comeback
