Nigerian dancer, Love Divine Ike, popularly known as Picture Kodak died on April 29, 2020, in what can only be described as a devastating moment for Nigeria’s entertainment industry. She was well on her way to becoming one of the greatest and highly acclaimed dancers when she met her unfortunate death.
However, before she passed away, she achieved one of her life goals – dancing for the whole world to see. Although, she didn’t get to see the final output, other fans and colleagues who did have celebrated this achievement.
Top music executive and consultant, Bizzle Osikoya shared a clip from the video saying, ‘RiP @PictureKodak we miss you LD! #BlackIsKing’. Another Twitter user also shared both her sadness and joy in seeing the late dancer featured on Beyonce’s project. She said, ‘Picture Kodak is a Nigerian dancer. She was seen in all of her glory dancing in Keys to the Kingdom! Unfortunately, we also lost Kodak back in April. I’m glad the world got to witness her one last time. Rest in Power!’
Picture Kodak, who had already featured in multiple music videos alongside some of Africa’s greatest minds, got to leave a mark on the minds of black people all over the world when she featured on Beyonce’s newly released ‘Black Is King’. She appears in the National Youth Service Commission (NYSC) uniform and her trademark red hair. She is seen performing her signature moves on ‘Keys to the Kingdom’ alongside Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi.
After her death, one of her friends, Poco Lee shared that she had been trying to take her craft out of Africa and she finally got a chance to do so. Beyonce has a global audience and that means that people all over the world will get to see Picture Kodak in all her glory.
Even though she died too soon, we are very happy that Picture Kodak got this opportunity and that her name will never be forgotten. Keep resting in power, queen!
