Lionel Messi has been named NET Honours Most Popular Foreign Celebrity – Male at this year’s edition of the prestigious award.
Messi, a record-breaking footballer who is globally adjudged as one of football’s Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), beat South Korean actor Lee Min Ho and others to win this year’s edition of the NET Honours Most Popular Foreign Celebrity – Male.
Since setting his feet in Spain in 2004, where his football career took shape, the Barcelona and Argentina star has continued to be a big winner.
Messi was crowned Best FIFA Men’s Player for the sixth time in 2019, beating his supposed archrival Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk. Messi and Ronaldo have dominated global football awards since 2008. He has won 10 La Liga, four Champions League, seven Copa del Rey, three Club World Cup, three European Super Cup, eight Spanish Cup, one Under-20 World Cup, one Olympic Gold Medal.
The trophies still missing on his shelf are the FIFA World Cup and the Copa America, which he desires to win before hanging the booth. While he waits, we can only wish him well and hope his dream comes true.
