Nollywood Has Refused To Make Stars And She Would Pay For It, Dearly
It was a lot
I also loved it – the high fashion of the early 90s aka shoulder pads and shiny sequined dresses, the blood spillage that came with an era of themes of blood money and a constant stereotype of some of my favorite Actors in Characters that stay with me till this day.
By the time I was 8 or 9, I was already an avid watcher – my eyes had seen enough Nollywood posters to rival the insides of a video club.
Both of us making mistakes and learning – sometimes the hard way – from them.
An Industry that came into being when I myself was a toddler, I have always felt like we grew together.
I grew up watching a lot of Nollywood movies.spectacle.
Maybe a little too much for me, at that age. But for me, it did not matter. Never has.
As a little girl, whose mates could sing along to the many catchy songs in Annie and who absolutely loved The Lion King, I was more vast in the soundtracks for movies like Nneka the pretty Serpent, Ijele, Chain Reaction and the score for Silent Night.
I sang along, hummed songs as I did chores.
It became a huge part of me. A guilty pleasure and eventually, a career path.
It felt for me like Nollywood and I shared a bond.
Of course, as I grew, Nollywood itself grew – movies with certain genres gave way to more movies, with different genres, more stars were born and more importantly, more hands got on deck.
“I Don’t Really Think About Marriage Like That” – Falz the Bahd Guy
As it appears, Falz has 99 problems, but getting married definitely isn’t one. The rapper made this known during a recent interview on Flytime Promotions which saw him and breakout star Teni talk about relationships and their journey to stardom. When Teniinquired about his plans on the discourse of marriage, Falz simply responded saying “I don’t really think about marriage like that”.
This isn’t the first time Falz would be shelving the idea of tying the knot. In fact, his break out single, aptly dubbed ‘Marry Me’ featuring Yemi Alade who played the role of his significant other saw him refuse to take their relationship to the next level. Maybe the rapper simply isn’t into marriage.

Erykah Badu Appeared To Defend R.Kelly And The Internet Isn’t Having None Of It
The internet “Cancel” culture is a thing, and not even the almighty Erykah Badu is above it.
After the singer appeared to be sympathetic to R.Kelly at her concert last night, internet users from all over the world are all but calling for her head.
Erykah while performing at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on Sunday, had unexpectedly paused her performance to offer a prayer up for R.Kelly following the release of the Surviving R. Kelly documentary and the backlash that has followed.
n clips circulating on social media, the singer was seen saying, “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about. I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.”
She went on to say, “But y’all say ‘fuck it!’ See, that’s not love. That’s not unconditional. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender, we gonna crucify them? I mean how do we do this? Just something to think about.”
This didn’t sit well with most of the concertgoers and a whole lot of folks on the internet, and they didn’t waste time to express their disappointment and declare her “cancelled”.
