Following a court ruling this morning nullifying the election that brought her in as the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima has vowed to fight on despite the unexpected turn of events.
Confirming exclusively to NET today that she is aware of the court ruling and that her legal team is putting a response together, the embattled first female president of the actors’ body said: ‘Yes, we lost, but I intend to appeal and we’re working on that presently.’
You may recall that the suit seeking to have the president and her executives removed was filed by Nollywood actor, St Maradona Mikevine who claims that the election that ushered Ibinabo in as the guild’s president is void due to a subsisting court order at the time.
The election was conducted against that order in 2013 by former president, Segun Arinze and the Guild’s board led by Ifeanyi Dikeh. Ibinabo emerged winner of that election and has since been in office, having bagged a second tenure in office following elections last year until this recent ruling declaring her election void by Justice James Tsoho.
