He is known as The ‘Big Dawg’ on the radio. The evolution of Radio Broadcasting will not be complete without mentioning the versatile radio presenter Daniel Foster. His impact in broadcasting over the years has indeed paved the way for many radio personalities in the broadcasting industry.
The Beginning
Daniel Foster began his radio career in the U.S and later moved back to Nigeria in 2000 to join Nigeria-based radio station Cool FM. He immediately warmed his way into the hearts of listeners.
He created and directed the first-ever Praise Jam concert that later became a yearly concert.
He won The Radio Presenter of the year, two times in a roll including Nigeria Merit Award for Best Radio Personality in 2005.
The First Move
After spending 8 years at Cool FM Dan decided that it was time to grow and test new waters. The chance came through Inspiration FM.
Foster joined the urban radio station in 2008 and contributed greatly to the success of the start-up station at the time. He created and directed the Sunday Morning Praise Jam.
The Second Move
The broadcast and drama graduate of the Morgan State University of Baltimore left Inspiration FM in 2014 to join City FM.
The Third Move
Dan Foster joined Classic FM in 2016, making it the 4th radio station since he moved back to Nigeria from the United States in 2000. Daniel Foster currently hosts the Classic morning show at Classic FM and Sunday Morning Talk on Lagos Talk FM.
Dan Foster is a mentor to many in the broadcasting industry. He has also groomed the likes of Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and many others.
When it comes to radio presentation, Dan Foster is a master. He has been hailed for his unique way of holding listeners’ attention with his compelling and inspirational style.
He was a judge on two reality Tv shows Idols West Africa in 2007 and Nigeria’s got Talent in 2015. Daniel Foster is blessed with 3 beautiful children. He is married to Lovina Foster.
It’ll be interesting to see if the ‘Big Dawg’ has plans to found his own radio station in the future. We can only wait to find out.
