Oprah Winfrey gave an awe-inspiring speech as she became the first black woman to ever receive the Cecil B. Demille award ever. In parts of her speech, Oprah said that she values the press more as “speaking your truth is the most valuable truth we all have”.
She also reiterated that the #MeToo movement does not only affect women in the American Entertainment industry but also women from every tribe, region, and race. She was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation as she said “And for too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up, the time is up”!
Oprah went on to give another speech at the press conference backstage after her initial acceptance speech.
