On Tuesday night, Barack Obama gave his farewell speech after completing his term as president of the United States of America – perhaps the most popular person to hold that office in the history of the free world.
Speaking in his home city of Chicago that was chosen by him for the simple fact that that was where his political career took off and where he gave his acceptance speech when he won the 2008 election, he talked on the need for America to be more united in the light of the very contentious election that saw Donald Trump becoming his successor.
‘[R]egardless of the station we occupy; we all have to try harder; we all have to start start with the premise that each of our fellow citizens loves this country just as much as we do; that they value hard work and family just like we do; that their children are just as curious and hopeful and worthy of love as our own,’ Obama said.
Even he was moved to shed a tear as while reflecting on the long way he’s come and the support he’s got from his wife, Michelle.
His term comes to an end on January 20 2017 when controversial business tycoon Donald Trump takes the oath of office.
