In just a few months, South Africa’s most popular media personality, Bonang Matheba has launched a book, started a reality TV show and launched her own emojis. And she is not slowing down.
The media girl just officially launched a cellphone app in collaboration with mobile company, Cell C.
The app called Bonang By Cell C is available for 60 Rands (about N1,620) monthly and will offer exclusive content – tips, BTS and more from the self-acclaimed Queen B.
As expected, social media has been reacting to the news of the launch with majority of people wondering why they have to shell out so much just to keep up with Bonang.

Does Bonang not know that we are living below the poverty line. We don’t have money for both R60 subscription and data for her app😒

I think Bonang is just ticking boxes nje & not thinking abt these deals she makes strategically or in any business sense.

Some shade was aimed at her English writing.
So Bonang thinks we gonna pay R60 for an app about HER every month?
I hope she’ll use that money to enrol in a Basic English Writing course. pic.twitter.com/P8AZu1xkGv— Theodorah Manjo ♡ (@MissManjo) August 23, 2017

There was a piece of advice from one media personality to another.

Imagine being blocked by Bonang on twitter then pay R60 to see what you can see on twitter. She thinks we think she thinks she is special pic.twitter.com/YWjpbvd7FF

I think Bonang overestimated her own status as a “celeb” in this country. Over shot it by a mile. Emojis, subscriptions? Nah B 😂
