The Nigerian Police Force says it has dismissed two erring officers, Shuaibu Suleman and Musa Muktari, for extorting motorists.
Shuaibu and Musa, who served as traffic wardens in Abuja, were said to have extorted N15,000 from a motorist.
Shuaibu and Musa’s victim had reported at the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, Force Headquarters in Abuja that he was flagged and stopped by the officers on May 29 for ‘beating traffic light’ despite not doing so.
He said the officers demanded for a bribe before they could let him go and he was forced to withdraw N15,000 from his account.
One of the officers forgot his phone in their victim’s car in the process.
Both officers were dismissed on Tuesday, June 20 after investigations and the victim was handed his N15,000 cash.
Police IG, Ibrahim Idris said the force would not condone any form of corruption from its officials.
