African pop star, Davido last Thursday had an informal session with top journalists and bloggers as he was hosted by BlackHouse Media, Nigerian Entertainment Today and ID Africa in celebration of his recent Sony deal.
The session, which was moderated by THENETNG publisher, Ayeni Adekunle, however took an unusual turn when Davido, rather than being questioned, was the one asking questions about the perception of media men about his personality and rise in the music industry.
Responses were diverse with many disclosing that Davido’s consistency over the years is responsible for his impressive growth.
THENETNG Chief Correspondent, Adedayo Showemimo who opened the session said, ‘Davido’s many controversies and consistency have made him a winning brand’.
Music download portal, tooXclusive founder, Tyler Duncan-Sotubo on his part also expressed the fact that Davido is a top and winning brand.
‘He has put himself at that top position which has made him a winning brand. Anything Davido puts his voice on is usually a hit. Davido is a big brand,’ Tyler said.
A veteran journalist, Nseobong Okon-Ekong of Thisday Newspaper further disclosed that Davido has kept winning due to the hardwork put together by his team.
‘Davido surrounding himself with young people who appreaciate and understand what he is doing have been working well for him,’ he said.
Obong spoke further, ‘He is one artiste who has an appeal that cut across the African continent’.
He however had some words of advice for the 23-year-old singer, saying ‘he should try to do some new things if he wants to remain on top in the coming years as he is becoming predictable.’
Other journalists who also bared their minds about Davido include Funsho Arogundade of PM News and Tosin Ajirire of Sun Newspapers.

This kangaroo media feedback is like arranging journalists to Aso Villa to met with Mr. President for the purpose of relating to him the pulse of Nigerians. Be rest assured that titles such as saviour, lord, transformer, and other fancy names will be deployed in describing he person of the President. This does not serve any purpose, as it masquerades the truth. Davido is no doubt a winning brand but his image needs a serious laundry. Unfortunate, that no one in the crowd was courageous enough to say it. He who pays the piper …
