Former Nigeria Super Eagles Striker, Kanu Nwankwo has revealed what he calls the worst day of his life as he recounts how he lost all his medals, trophies, plaques and other valuable items in his Lagos property, The Hardley Apartments.
The property which was a short stay and hotel accommodation along Waziri Ibrahim Crescent in Victoria Island has been sealed and under litigation since 2015 after Kanu defaulted in his transaction with Skye Bank.
Pending decision of the court, Kanu was informed that the property was taken over by new owners.
When he arrived at the property, he was shocked to realize that the place has been totally ransacked and his valuables were long gone.
“All the medals I have earned, in addition to the Olympic torch that I cherished are all gone and I don’t even know who to ask for all these prized assets,” Kanu said.
A man who was identified as the supervisor of an ongoing renovation on the facility disclosed that he was a staff of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.
It’s been suspected that AMCON took over the property in utter disregard to court proceedings.
