TheNetng, in collaboration with Orin, will be hosting a listening session for spoken word poet Ndukwe Onuoha‘s new EP, Nwa Chukwu at the BHM Lounge on Tuesday, July 30. Onuoha will skillfully take guests through an afternoon of spoken word poetry, quality interactions and drinks.
The spoken word poet is cut from a different cloth. His masterful spoken word poetry is as deeply rooted in culture as it evokes spirituality, while being a tool for reflection and hope. His artistry is interesting and embracing, as he straddles the cool world of advertising and the poetry of his forefathers, merging the ancient craft of spoken words with the “cool” factor of popular music: soul, blues, and hip-hop.
His new album deftly combines evocative spoken word poetry with a touch of modernity that is not just remarkable, but striking.
‘Genesis’, one of seven tracks on ‘Nwa Chukwu’, features two verses of soothing poetry which describes the poet’s beginning, with jarring recollections of a family tree that includes an absent father and a distant mother, all of which combined to create an individual starkly aware of his ancestry and a destiny guaranteed by a God he has come to know.
Guests at the one-day event, including entertainment journalists and bloggers, will be treated to a bevy of tracks from Onuoha’s masterfully crafted album.
The event is powered by ID Africa.
