NET brings you top scandals that rocked the Nigerian entertainment industry in the past one year.
1. Timaya rape scandal
Timaya was on the lips of many for his new found fashion style and his meeting with Rihanna which got us all envious. But all those quickly got relegated to the background after he got involved in a rape scandal involving an American based singer, Shella B.
Timaya slept with the Nigeria-American lady on July 18, 2015 just three days after welcoming his 2nd daughter with his baby mama, Barbara.
And thats how he found himself headlining the biggest sex scandal of 2015.
2. Toke Makinwa marriage scandal
Toke was lost for tips when a certain Anita Solomon got pregnant for her husband Maje Ayida barely one year into their marriage.
That marriage has since packed up.
3. K Solo‘s ex-wife romances Pastor Madubuko
Three years after a bitter separation characterised by a media war and court battle, the producer’s ex-wife, Kikelomo Akinkunmi got involved in yet another scandal that grabbed headlines.

Kikelomo was alleged to have had an affair with respected Nigerian pastor, Anselm Madubuko.
Although the matter has since been swept under the carpet, the church is still startled by the revelation after the famed man of God reportedly begged for forgiveness before the entire congregation.
4. Toyin Aimakhu and Adeniyi Johnson’s marriage scandal
The union collapsed after Adeniyi allegedly had an affair with an aide of his wife. Toyin got wind of the romance and promptly walked away from her matrimonial home. Not even pleas from the scandalised hubby, industry colleagues and other concerns individuals could take her back home.

5. Skiibi death stunt
Not many will forget this scandal in a hurry. On Friday, August 14, 2015, news went viral that Five Star Music act, Skiibii was dead.
With many thrown into a sad mood, it was later discovered that the incident was only a publicity stunt by the label.
Although the lead act, Kcee feigned ignorance of the arrangement and subsequently fired the label’s general manager, Soso Soberekon, it appears the label actually scammed us.

Recent happenings have proven that the artiste’s manager was only used as a fall guy as the camp has since reunited and Soso is back in his position.
6. Olamide accused of stealing songs from D’banj
Music fans were shocked when D’banj’s producer, Deevee accused Olamide of stealing songs from DB Records.
Deevee took to twitter to call out Olamide saying he (Olamide) ‘steals’ from them everytime he ‘visits their zones’.
Although Olamide kept mute on the allegation, D’banj is reported to have waved the theft scandal aside saying ‘its not stealing, I see it as inspiration’.
7. Jahbless accuses Timaya’s producer of beat theft
In a similar development, DM Records lead act, Timaya also got involved in an intellectual theft saga.
Jahbless called out Jez Bender who produced Timaya’s ‘Hallelujah’ for stealing the instrumental he used for his 2014 single, ‘Jeje’ which features Oritsefemi.
Now this came on Timaya’s birthday as the song was released to celebrate. What a joy killer.
8. 2face caught kissing baby mama
African pop star, 2face Idibia began his 2015 on a controversial note when he was caught in the act kissing one of his baby mamas.
The father of seven was pictured all loved up, kissing and cuddling Pero Adeniyi who gave birth to three of the superstar’s children.

With the social media space thrown into a frenzy, the musician however reiterated his love for his wife, Annie Dibia in an Instagram post captured ‘Love you till I die’.
9. Freeze’s marriage of 15 years collapses
Popular Cool FM OAP, Ifedayo Olarinde better known as Freeze was in the news after his marriage of 15 years hit the rocks.
The separation was embarrassingly messy with Freeze calling out his ex-wife and labeling her an ‘adulteress’. He also accused her of beating him up on several occassions.

Freeze has since moved on and gotten engaged to new flame, Benedicta Elechi.
10. Emeka Ike’s marriage collapse
Another celebrity marriage which crashed was that of controversial actor, Emeka Ike.
While the Nollywood actor was busy fighting for the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, his home gradually crumbled with his wife Suzanne accusing him of battery.
The 15-year-old union which produced four kids ended up at a Customary Court in Lagos Island.
11. 2shotz wife battery
Two years after ex-BBA housemate, Beverly Osu accused him of physically assaulting her, Nigerian rapper, 2Shotz was in the news for the same reason.
This time around, his wife who defended him in 2013, Precious Jones came out with allegations that the rapper beat her.
Precious accused the Umunnamu Entertainment CEO of pummeling her at every slight provocation. She has since stayed put at her base abroad where she is studying for her masters.
12. Skales and manager, Osagie accused of defrauding record label
Skales and his manager, Osagie were accused of fraud by a record label, Baseline Records.
In a lengthy petition obtained by TheNETng dated May 19, 2016 the label claimed that Skales’ manager, Osagie committed fraud against the company with monies totalling N13, 374,000. Both denied the allegation.

Osagie is a respected talent manager in the music industry who has over the years worked with acts such as Kel, Wizkid, Morell, Dammy Krane, Niyola, Banky W and others.
13. Runtown and record label war
The ‘Gallardo‘ singer joined the party of entertainers with record label woes on Tuesday May 31, 2016 when news broke that his label, Eric Manny had secured a Federal High Court injunction against him.

Runtown responded through his lawyers with a letter terminating his contract, then he went on to grant an interview saying his record label boss Okwudili Umenyiora once pulled a gun on him and threatened his life.
Apart from that of Skales, this was however one of the most talked about label scandals of 2016.
14. The Paul and Peter Okoye ‘Psquare‘ breakup
We’ve apparently seen end of the award winning group that delivered six great albums.
Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, and Jude Okoye have been players in the long drama, with Peter firing their longtime partner elder brother Jude as his manager, setting up a new structure for his business, and going solo with a single. Paul too released a single, and has since stuck with Jude.

In a tell all exclusive interview with NET, Peter Okoye confessed all the details of the fight, explaining that Jude and Paul disrespected him and marginalized him, Paul had floated his personal band named MVP, and the inefficient business structure was hurting the brand and their decision-making process.
This scandal was one of the BIGGEST entertainment news that shook the whole of Africa.
15. Tiwa Savage marital crisis
Tee Billz dragged his pop star wife, Tiwa Savage on social media, accusing her of cheating, emasculation and even claimed that her mother bewitched him.
Tiwa’s marriage to Tunji Balogun, aka Teebillz literally went sour after Teebillz’s rant on Instagram where she was accused of infidelity and her consequent interview where she made some shocking revelations about her husband.

The mother-of-one also shared shocking details of how she recently had a miscarriage and shut down TeeBillz’s accusations of her cheating on him with Mavin stars, Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid and also 2face Idibia.
16. Oritsefemi and manager, Danku stunt
Oritsefemi and his manager, Danku fought for almost a year for the ownership of the label, MSN Gang, which housed the ‘Double Wahala’ singer.
Following the fight which involved the police and even got both their family members involved, the duo held a reunion meeting at Troy Lounge, Victoria Island Lagos where they buried the hatchet, called their fight a publicity stunt and agreed to move on.
In an exclusive chat with Thenetng, Oritsefemi says, ‘I’m sorry for whatever we may have caused our friends and fans but now me and my homeboy we are cool now. It was all a publicity stunt’.
Olamide and Don Jazzy Headies fight
On January 1, 2016 at the 10th edition of The Headies award, one of the most talked about beef in the Nigerian music industry went down when YBNL leader, Olamide and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy came for each other.
The rift however was quickly resolved by Sunday, January 3, 2016 and fans began to wonder how and why the beef ended so soon.

In some quarters, word filtered that the truce was brokered by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
But this beef was however the most talked about feud of 2016.
