The government of Sierra Leone has reportedly been forced to ban public Christmas and New Year celebrations over fears that the deadly Ebola virus might spread even further.
According to reports, military officers will be patrolling the streets throughout the country to ensure people are quarratined during Christmas and New Year celebrations in order to get the number of infections under control.
Head of the government department in charge, Palo Conteh also confirmed the reports that there would be ‘no Christmas and New Year celebrations this year.
‘We will ensure that everybody remains at home to reflect on Ebola, ‘Military personnel will be on the streets at Christmas and the New Year to stop any street celebrations.’
And in accordance with the plan, bars, clubs and other social events centres have already been been shut down ahead of the holiday season.
