According to him, avoiding undue sympathy over his condition is why he barely talks about it.
From fainting on stage in New York back in 2014 and the three-day coma that followed, to his constant bout with illness, US singer, August Alsina certainly had many fans worried for him.
And now, the singer’s revealed how he has been battling with liver disease for some time during a chat with his ‘favourite person on planet earth’, Jada Pinkett-Smith.
‘I have a liver disease,’ he tells Pinkett-Smith. ‘My autoimmune system is fighting itself. The reality is that I’m sick all the time.’
Alsina also wrote, ‘I’m sicker than ever and having a hard time accepting what I feel. After sitting down and talking with my fathers mother and sister, they explained to me that sickness runs in my family.
‘My father and grandfather both died of severe illness. But they were FIGHTERS and that’s all that matters.’
Alsina told Smith that he kept the true nature of his condition on the low as he didn’t want undue sympathy from anybody.
