The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce  has said it “does not remove stars from the Walk of Fame” because they “are intended to be permanent.”

The statement came on the heels of Tuesday’s sentencing of 81 years old actor, Bill Cosby, who was convicted in April for sexually assaulting a woman, Temple University women’s basketball administrator Andrea Constand at his estate near Philadelphia in 2004.

“The stars only commemorate the recipient’s professional accomplishments,” the chamber wrote following a petition submitted to them. “It is regrettable when the personal lives of inductees do not measure up to public standards and expectations,” the statement further said.
