Babajide Sanwo-Olu has now been sworn in as the fourth democratic Lagos State Governor. The swearing in ceremony took place at Tafawa Balewa Square at about 11: 40 am, after he had taken the oath of office.
Sanwo-Olu’s deputy governor Mr. Obafemi Hamzat was also sworn in just before the governor was sworn in after taking the oath of office.
The new governor takes over from former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as his first and only term comes to an end. Ambode, who was not at the swearing in today, had handed over to the new governor of Lagos State yesterday. He also gave a farewell speech stating how privileged he was to have been the state governor for four years.
Sanwo-Olu has asked for the support of Lagosians to help make his tenure smooth. Barring any strange development, he will govern Lagos State till May 28, 2023.
