Former Cameroon defender, Rigobert Song was hospitalised Sunday, October 2 after suffering a stroke at his home in Yaounde.
The 40-year-old is now out of coma, but he will be flown to France for further treatment.
Dr Louis Joss Bitang A Mafok of Yaounde Central Hospital announced that Song has come out of his coma and that his blood pressure is back to normal.
In his words, ‘His high blood pressure has returned to normal and the cerebral haemorrhage has been controlled.’
Song, who played for Liverpool, West Ham United, Metz, Lens and Galatasaray in the past, was appointed as manager of the Chad national team in October 2015.
Mafok further revealed that a French medical aircraft will be in Cameroon today, and then he will be flown to France.
Song, who only scored five goals in 137 appearances for his country, participated in four FIFA World Cups (1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010) since his international debut on September 22, 1993 against Mexico.
The world prays for the former Indomitable Lions skipper for quick recovery.
